Mr Avul Pakir Jainulabudeen Abdul Kalam known as APJ abdul Kalam also known as MISSILE MAN.Kalam was born and raised in Rameswaram,Tamilnadu in Tamil Muslim family.His father Jainulabudeen was a boat owner and imam of a local mosque.Kalam was the
youngest of four brothers and one sister in his family.By his childhood,Kalam's family had become poor;at an early age ,he sold newspapers to contribute his family income.
In school time he was average grade student but he was bright,hardworking and had a strong desire to learn.Mr.Kalam was very good in mathematicsKalam was graduated in physics in 1954 and then move to Madras in 1955 to study aerospace engineering from Madras Institute of Technology.Kalam missed his dream of becoming fighter pilot,as he placed 9th in qualifier,and
only eight positions were available.
After graduation Kalam joined DRDO as a scientist.In 1969,he transferred to ISRO where
he was the project director of India's first satellite launch vehicle which successfully deployed the Rohini satellite in 1980.Kalam also directed 2 projects,Project Devil and Project Valiant,which
sought to ballistic missiles from the technology of the successful SLV programme.After this kalam lead many missile projects.
In 25 july,2002 Kalam sworn as 11th President of india.During his term as president,he was
affectionately known as People's President. In Rashtrapati Bhavan during his term he living very simple life vegetarian food,veena vadan ,daily quran and geeta .He opened rashtrapati bhavan gate for janta and meet many peo
ple,students and children.After leaving Rashtrapati Bhavan in 2007,Kalam became a visiting professor in several Universities.
On July 27, 2015, Kalam suffered a massive heart attack while lecturing at the Indian Institute of Management and subsequently died at the age of 83.Kalam was laid to rest on July 30 with full state honors in his native Tamil Nadu.
